For my birthday (2nd September....hope you're taking notes!) this year I received a Canon 20D (courtesy of my loving wife). Wow this is a great toy.
I have photographed anything and everything that stood still for more than 2 seconds.....I haven't learnt how to take action shots yet so if you don't want to appear in my photo albums just keep movin! For more information on the specs of this camera visit the granddaddy of digital photography review sites dpreview. You should NEVER purchase a digital camera without first spending a couple of hours browsing this site.
Getting the photo albums up and running has been quite a job. The pictures have been uploaded uncropped and unmanipulated, only the image size has been reduced. I have tried to include a location and comment with each picture. The EXIF Data was added automatically by TypePad. If you see any mistakes or omissions please let me know and I will fix them up. The uploaded pictures are necessarily small but I do have larger versions. If you would like a bigger copy of a particular photo just drop me a mail and I'll send you one. BTW (by the way) don't be shy...feel free to comment on the photo albums and anything else that appears in this blog.
I have never done any serious photography before just "Happy Snappies" of holidays, family and pets so the learning curve has been quite steep. I decided to concentrate on one subject first bird photograph. This has allowed me to hardwire some of the camera and lens choices and just vary a few options such as flash, ISO and aperture settings. The problem with bird photograph is that you don't always get a chance to play around with the settings. The bird only gives you a couple of seconds to make the shot. My favourite shot, so far, has been the redchested cuckoo. This is because of the bird sighting more than the composition. Before I got this shot I had never seen one...although, like most South Africans I had heard this bird. (It's common name is Piet-my-vrou after the distinctive call it makes. This translates from Afrikaans as Peter-my-wife (which sounds nothing like its call but should make it a gay icon and usurp those poor confused penguins in New York that have gone straight again!)). I think photography for me will be as much about the hunt and shoot than the artistic merit of the shot. Eco friendly big game (or small bird) hunting.
Your Piet-my-vrou is very cool. I've never been able to spot one.
Did you buy a book on photography? Or do you have a nice site to share on the subject?

According to my own monitoring, thousands of persons all over the world receive the home loans at various banks. Hence, there is a good possibility to find a auto loan in any country.
