SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) came to visit Petrel Computer Consultants last week. They run an educational program called Enterprise Zone that gives hints and tips to entrepreneurs starting out or already running a small business. They were shooting a show on technology in small business and Penny was asked to appear as a small business consultant.
The guys where very professional, they arrived exactly on time which is virtually unheard of in South Africa where we run mostly on African time...(you know GMT +2 or +2.5 or +2.75 or whatever...as long as we get there in the correct week it should be close enough). Everyone and everything fitted into one Toyota Corolla, lights, cameras, soundman, cameraman, directory and presenter...not bad...
They shuffled some furniture, switched off all our noisy computer equipment and started by interviewing Penny...who speaks beautifully and a great length when she is not in front of a camera but get that film rolling and it's take 1...take 2...take 78....get another cassette from the car boys...take 145....
Next they wanted some "Petrel at work" scenes but all of our staff had made themselves scarce so we called them back to the offices and explained the simulated working scenarios...and boy were they good at simulating work, took to it like naturals...makes me wonder what they do most of the time.
After two hours of filming, a couple of cold drinks and a bit of goofing around in the car park it was all over..."in the can" as us pro's in the business like to call it.
Not sure when it will air or how much of what was filmed will be shown. Hopefully we will get more details in the next week or two.
BTW There are more pictures.....but not too many I promise.....posted on flickr. Have a look.

That's so cool. I'm impressed!
