Is he going to start posting again...probably not so...don't get all excited about the new look. I was looking for one of my old posts and realised I had no category content...so I did a bit of a redesign.

What useful and thought provoking info was I mining my blog for? The koala joke of course.

Suitable Catch-phrase

I know I had promised to change the catch-phrase on my blog quite a while back....but I just couldn't find anything suitable....until I remembered this suitably unsuitable quote from Black Adder

Gotta love that piece of wisdom coming from a man in tights.

Don't Ya Want To Help a Flat Girl Out?

Heather needs new boobs. After breast feeding two kids they're a little on the floppy side. Unable to afford surgery she has started an Internet campaign to raise funds. There is an extremely interesting ChipIn graphic where you can donate to either the left or the right one. So far the right has earned more eerr ... "tips".

Apart for the obvious fun behind donating to a tit I actually find the whole ChipIn concept quite clever. Let's say we all go out to dinner. At the end of the evening I settle the bill. Then I create a ChipIn account and send you all a mail with what you owe me. You can pay by credit card or Paypal and the ChipIn account keeps me updated and the rest of you reminded. It's uses are endless, collecting money for a birthday present, membership fees, sponsored charity events or even a new pair of noombies.

mcfarland dot coza

Oh no...another one of my friends has succumbed to the blogging habit. Yes it is extremely addictive and easier to push than coke......heh heh I love his poke at Telkom....couldn't have put it better myself. The monkey picture, might be relatives of mine.....wait I should phone them.....maybe they will fix my phone quicker...eeerrr oh yeah my phone's broken.

He has started a family site, mcfarland.co.za, and in the corner he has his family coat of arms...which got me thinking...does monkeyboy have a coat of arms? And is it nicer than his. Well I just had to have a look and this is what I found out.

So it looks like the Mcfarlands got a better deal than the Mercers. They get an English family motto, cool colours (yellow on a coat of arms I ask you?), the little dude with his shirt off and to top it all, with the surname being of Scottish descent, they get a family tartan...do we?...NO...being of Geekish descent best I could Google up was a nice mercer plaid shirt! (Try it google for mercer and tartan.) Maybe I should have my coat of arms changed to pens and a calculator in a top pocket.

The 30 Hour Day & Other Web Stuff

Tyler over at The 400 Pound Mile has come up with a solution to all my time problems...The 30 Hour Day. Wow! I really hope it catches on - should we start a petition?

I saw an interesting article on Digg about Disney and the reuse of frames in cartoons...but it was in Russian....no worries we can translate it using BabelFish...and that left me with this little gem - "But in the full-length tapes Walt so by low- to descend did not desire, but in order to avoid temptations, we re not removed sikvelov of its cartoons." - whoa started hitting the Vodka a little early today Boris.

The Alphabet of Manliness

You'll have noticed...or not if you don't read my drivel...that I occasionally post about Maddox...you know the guy with the Best Page in the Universe...but the worst for new content...he posts about 6 or 8 times a YEAR.

Anyway, Maddox has been writing a book...I thought if he wrote like he posted my grandkids could get it for my retirement party...but oh no...it's almost here...June to be precise and the thing that shocked me the most is that it is currently number 2 on Amazon's best seller list...not too shabby.....

The book is called The Alphabet of Manliness and apparently this book is "So manly that even its sentences don't have periods." - Dan Berman.

Not sure I like the cover art though....that poor monkey.

Oh....it has a web site......

Blog Things

I was over at ipears.com reading an article on what was preventing the author from creating content...and it got me thinking about what prevents me from creating content and the answer is <dum> <dum> <dum> Traffic Exchanges. I spend more time building up credits, playing games and chatting online, trying to drive traffic to my site, than actually creating good valuable content....or waffle if you prefer my waffle...and pulling traffic to my blog.

It all started at a party when someone mentioned I try a traffic exchange program to get my blog kick started.....you know just use for a while....until I got my stats up, then quit....but there just never seems to be enough visitors....nothing recaptures the thrill of those first 5 comments.....another 10 daily visitors and I'll stop I promise...like any addict this is just a little lie I tell to myself....so I can sleep better at night....SLEEP what sleep there is no sleep for those addicted to surf.

I can't go cold turkey....no way no how....but I am going to deregister from all but BlogMad. My traffic has increased from 20-30 hits a day to over 100 hits a day since I joined BlogMad, I don't really need the others....I'll flush them down the toilet....and hopefully someone will invent a patch for BlogMad (you know like a nicotine patch) so I can wean myself off it slowly.

BTW BlogMad is open to the public from tomorrow....in about 8 hours....with a double credit day....yes double credit. This means you will get 2 visitors to your site for every site you visit....tomorrows a public holiday in South Africa...guess I'm going to be surfing.

How to Blog: Lesson 1

This is not the start of a long series on how to blog. It is one post and may be followed by another...and then again it may not be followed by another...Why is he being so pedantic about this you ask?.....Well I have learnt, don't promise something on your blog and then not deliver. Blog readers have better memories than blog writers.

A few weeks ago I posted about Shoot the Crazy Frog in which I promised to post a screenshot of anyone who bettered my score...and then I didn't...and then they let me know...and then they threatened Wiki pages posted under Liar! Cheat! and Welsher...so here are the entrants.

I checked I DIDN'T promise a prize so I am off the hook there....but I will be reading through all my old posts and see where I have failed to deliver and make amends...to all my faithful readers...you know who you are Mom...consider the lesson learnt.
